Math Olympiads
Mathletes are challenged by participating in Math Olympiad. I meet with 4th and 5th graders to explore a problem solving strategy in depth and apply it to different story problems. Practices are held and five monthly contests are conducted.
Some of the problem solving strategies we use are
*Draw a picture
*Make a chart or organized list
*Guess and check
*Use logical reasoning
*Find a pattern
*Write an algebraic expression
*Work backwards
*Solve a simpler problem
